Using Feedback from Your Personal Trainer and Nutritionist in Maryville, TN for Goal Setting

Learn How To Apply Feedback to Your Short Term and Long Term Health and Fitness Goals

Envision strolling on a rough surface — perhaps a sea shore, river, or a climbing trail.

A few of the stones are steady and strong. On the off chance that you step on them, they don't move.

Another group of stones are tricky. Perhaps there's a little green growth on them, or some mud.

Another portion of stones aren't steady. They squirm or tip when you step on them.

With each progression you take, you are getting feedback about the best way to travel. More importantly, you can utilize that feedback to change course depending on the situation.

On the off chance that you step on a stone, and it shifts, did you come up short?

No.

You just got significant data about the following activity — attempt another stone.

You got feedback.

It's information that you can use to make a decision.

Your intelligent body will always receive feedback for other movements, regardless of whether in your home gym or at the local park. On the off chance that you feel yourself leaning to far too one side, losing your balance, or losing your hold on a weight, you perform a movement to correct yourself.

The same goes for your nutrition habits.  On the off chance that you notice that red-light food sources appear to make you over indulge, or cause you to feel sick to your stomach, you make a decision about whether to keep those food choices around.

Over time, you assemble a database from your feedback.

It's all data.

And, failure's not real.

If you took a spill on your home gym floor, you got feedback about leaning too far to one side. You didn't fail your fitness exercise.

If you gorged on your best friend’s Nuclear Super Bowl Chili and went through the entire night in agony trying to digest that explosive fireball in your belly, you got feedback about what food choices work for you, or don't. You didn't fail eating.

Regardless of what happens, you didn’t fail.

In those minutes, you just settled on a decision that didn't work – but provided important information moving forward.

Change your viewpoint

To change your viewpoint, you can ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do your expectations of progress match reality?
  • How do you know?
  • Are you doing all the practices that generally matter the most, consistently?
  • Could you be doing at least one of the fundamental practices somewhat better, or all the more regularly?
  • Could you be doing one or more of the basic practices a little bit better, or more often?
  • Are you looking in discouraging or unsatisfying places for progress and happiness? Where else could you look?

Treat this like a competition.

  • Ask yourself, “How’s this working for me?” If the answer is “Fabulously,” then keep doing it.
  • f the answer is “Not so great,” then use that information to change course. No big deal.
  • Accept the feedback, learn from it, and go forward with fresh perspective.
