One of my favorite things to do during this time of the year is to reflect on all that has happened over the past year. As I sit here and write this, I can’t begin to realize how thankful I am for ALL that God has blessed me with!
The beginning of the year started with a notification that Club Sport Green Valley would be closing at the end of January. Previously the July before, I had been promoted to Fitness Director and oversaw a personal training department of about 16-20 personal trainers. I really enjoyed that position and did everything I could do to turn the department around on a shoestring budget. We were heading in the right direction. Our team was becoming solid, however, Club Sport had been in the Red for so many years and no matter what I did the Club was still going to close. One of the saddest things I had to do was tell our staff and members about what would transpire over the month of January. Club sport was a staple in the community of Green Valley and many lives would be displaced. There were many that had their membership for 30 years! Needless to say, a lot of hearts were broken and I was out of a job.
After closing Club Sport down, I took myself and 5 other trainers over to Strength Center Las Vegas. I basically had to start from scratch again and rebuild a clientele, since I was not focused on building a clientele while in my Fitness Director position at Club Sport. It’s been a challenge, but my clientele is growing and I love training them all! I have been truly blessed by ALL of them! The Lord has always put food on our table, kept a roof over our head, and always provides for us! I am so grateful.
September was a pretty awesome month. First, after fighting the banks for 6 years we finally got our house refinanced and are now able to stay in our first home we purchased in 2003. I’m so very thankful for this home. It was not easy by any means. I spend a good part of my life over these past 6 years dealing with banks, paperwork, Realtor’s ,etc… I’m so happy that it’s all behind us now and Carrie and I have been having fun with our home improvement projects.
The highlight of this past year had to be our trip to Barbados, at the end of September, celebrating our 17 year wedding anniversary. Carrie and I had an amazing 12 day vacation in one of the most beautiful places in the world! After all the challenges we have been through since 2008, this was the first vacation we have taken and it was so rewarding. We were able to watch sunsets from our patio, swim with Sea Turtles, listen to lots of steel drums, and just spend time away from work and enjoy each other. When you put your trust in God, he will always provide and bless you beyond measure. You just need to learn patience.
As I look back in 2015, I have to say it was a pretty darn good year. I have grown spiritually and I’m content with everything in my life. I know that I have absolutely no control over what happens. One of my favorite scriptures that I remind myself of regularly is Romans 8:31 “…If God is for us, who can be against us?”
Now, I’m looking forward to what 2016 will bring. As I write out my goals for this next year, I know that I have a lot to do and a lot of lives to change. I know there are going to be some life changing events happening this coming year. I’m ready for the next chapter in my life for my fitness career! There are going to be some great things happening, so stay tuned!
I hope and pray that you and your families have a very Merry Christmas and ALL your dreams come true in 2016!
